Pooled data from the 6-week U.S. clinical trials that were part
of the new drug application showed that approximately 50% of
mirtazapine-treated patients and 20% of placebo-controlled
patients achieved at least a 50% improvement in scores
on the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (Ham-D) (Fawcett and Barkin 1998b).
