A variety of different psychopharmacological agents have been
used in the treatment of PTSD by clinicians and reported in the
literature as case reports, open clinic trials, and controlled studies.
These are summarized in the following sections; in recent years,
SSRIs and other serotonergic agents have emerged as the first-line
pharmacological treatment of PTSD (Table 12–34).
