CD is among the most frequently made and probably overused
diagnoses in child psychiatry. Despite this, many individuals with
this disorder are probably undertreated. Conduct
disorder describes a pattern of behavior that demonstrates
disregard for societal norms and the rights of others. Subtyping
based on the individual's age of initial symptom presentation
helps determine prognosis. Severity is based on the number of symptoms
and the amount of harm induced. Numerous questionably related symptoms
are listed in the diagnostic schema and range in gravity from curfew
violations to rape (Table 21–22).
