Suicidal depressed youth require
a special focus on assessment, monitoring, and amelioration of suicidality.
Suicide risk assessment considers functional impairment, degree
of hopelessness, presence of psychosis, stability of family environment,
and quality of available support. If the risk of suicide is high,
treatment in a more restrictive setting (e.g., hospitalization)
may be needed.
