Group therapy and family therapy have become the treatments of choice for substance abusers and addicts. The use of a multidisciplinary approach, using a biopsychosocial framework, has provided therapists with innovations in areas including relapse prevention, cognitive-behavioral therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and psychopharmacological treatment. This chapter presents a brief review of approaches to both group therapy and family therapy.
