The Application of a Method of Content Analysis to Psychotherapy Research

Abstract

A content analysis method applicable to speech and its thematic aspects is described from the point of view of its eclectic theoretical basis and the operational steps whereby the magnitude of psychologic states can be derived from verbal behavior. Through the application of this procedure, though global interrelationships of relevant variables in the process of psychotherapy may be lost, precise measurement of specific psychologic states can be obtained.
