Marine Commandant Invites APA’s Input on Mental Health Issues

Gen. Robert B. Neller, commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (center), met with APA leaders immediately after the March meeting of the Board of Trustees in Arlington, Va. Levin said Neller and APA leaders discussed ways APA could collaborate with the military in addressing mental health issues in the military. Neller expressed particular concern about the number of suicides among marines, which has increased dramatically in recent years.
“We are pleased that Gen. Neller will speak at our Annual Meeting in Atlanta,” Levin told Psychiatric News. ■
