Record Your History in APA Foundation Story Booths

Interested in sharing your story for posterity? You’ll get a chance to do so while attending APA’s 2019 Annual Meeting. Located at various sites in the Moscone Center will be “story booths” sponsored by the American Psychiatric Association Foundation. Each fully enclosed booth will be equipped with audio and video equipment that will allow users to record a three- to five-minute video in privacy.
Questions and prompts will guide participants through the recording experience and enable them to tell the story of why they became a psychiatrist, recount their experiences, and share how their work has made a difference in their communities and the lives of patients. APA will publish the questions in advance and at the meeting so users can prepare for their moment in front of the camera.
The booths will be fully automated and can seat up to two adults comfortably. There is no charge for participating, and although recordings become the property of the Melvin Sabshin, M.D., Library and Archives, users will be able to access their videos. ■
Booths will be open from Friday, May 17, through Wednesday, May 22.
