Psychiatric Services Offers Monthly Curated Collections

In January Psychiatric Services began offering monthly collections of content curated by editor Lisa Dixon, M.D., M.P.H. Dubbed “Editor’s Choice,” each collection covers a different topic and features recent influential research published in the journal.
“People like having a thoughtful, broad examination of a topic in one place,” said Dixon in a video on the Editor’s Choice webpage. “In creating Editor’s Choice, it also allows us to see the march of knowledge, science, and experience, which I think represents what we have in Psychiatric Services, over time.”
Each collection, selected by Dixon and a member of the journal’s Early Career Psychiatrist Advisory Committee, will serve as a virtual special issue or teaching tool with text that introduces the topic and why it’s important. In addition, these collections may give busy researchers and clinicians a fresh look at what Psychiatric Services has to offer.
The first collection covered integrated care and its application in targeting health disparities in community mental health settings, particularly among people with serious mental illness. The second collection focuses on recovery. Upcoming Editor’s Choice collections will cover child psychiatry, peer support, and homelessness. ■
