We, as a nation, have been through a long, intense election cycle, culminating in a new administration for our country. As we listen deeply to one another to find common ground, let’s lean into empathy and our shared humanity, and build bridges of respect and understanding. Every two years, we face a new political reality and there is always some uncertainty as to what will come next. Know that APA is built to successfully navigate these political waters.
Mental health is a nonpartisan issue and APA is a nonpartisan organization. As such, APA will work successfully with the Trump administration and members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to identify and advance bipartisan solutions to the priority policy issues impacting our patients and our profession. What we do as an organization and as psychiatrists is as important today as it was before the election, and APA will continue to prioritize speaking with a clear voice on behalf of psychiatry and our patients. We are stronger together than we are apart—as a nation and as the field of psychiatry. We urge all APA members to continue engaging with the organization as we advance our essential mission, together as One APA. ■
