APA’s Fall Institute Proves to Be Winning Proposition for Some

The prize drawings held each day at APA’s 2000 Institute on Psychiatric Services in Philadelphia last October made attending the meeting that much more valuable.
The prizes were presented to the pleasantly surprised winners by APA President Daniel Borenstein, M.D., President-elect Richard Harding, M.D., and Harvey Bluestone, M.D., chair of the Scientific Program Committee. Here is a list of the winners and their prizes:
•  Bruce Berg, M.D., of Bryn Mawr, Pa.: free registration for APA’s 2001 annual meeting in New Orleans

•  Peter Gibson, M.D., of Vancouver, British Columbia: video camera
•  Steven Pflanz, M.D., of Cheyenne, Wyo.: two airline tickets
•  Alan Radke, M.D., of Woodbury, Minn.: two nights’ lodging at APA’s 2001 Institute on Psychiatric Services
•  James Reinhard, M.D., of Catawba, Va.: VCR
•  Carlos Ruiz, M.D., of Bronx, N.Y.: digital camera
•  Marshall Simpson, M.D., of Columbus, Ga.: fax machine
•  Phyllis Smoyer, M.D., of Hockessin, Del.: dinner for two
•  Joyce Vista-Wayne, M.D., of Ottumwa, Iowa: free registration for APA’s 2001 Institute on Psychiatric Services
•  Richard Yudell, M.D., of Villanova, Pa.: Palm Pilot
The 53rd Institute on Psychiatric Services will be held October 10 to 14 at the Renaissance Orlando Resort Hotel, which is located across the street from Sea World in Orlando, Fla.
The preliminary program will be available in May 2001; other information is posted on APA’s Web site at www.psych.org by clicking on the institute’s logo.
