Throughout its colorful past, New Orleans, that most exotic of American cities, has inspired writers, artists, musicians, chefs — and several politicians — to make indelible contributions to American culture.
Their bounty of fabulous food, memorable music, unique architecture, and a philosophy summed up in the city’s unofficial motto, “Let the good times roll,” will be spread out before psychiatrists and others who attend this year’s APA annual meeting.
This issue of Psychiatric News contains the preliminary program for the 2001 annual meeting, general information to help you navigate the meeting, and lots of suggestions for leisure-time activities.

The New Orleans Heritage and Jazz Festival overlaps with the start of APA's 2001 annual meeting. The festival begins on Saturday, April 27, and ends Sunday, May 6.
