Lifers to Meet

The Lifers of APA, which is made up of APA life members and life fellows, will hold their annual meeting and forum on Monday, May 7, in conjunction with APA’s 2001 annual meeting in New Orleans.
The events kick off with the annual business meeting and forum on Monday at 7:30 a.m. in the Pontchartrain Ballroom E/F/G in the Sheraton Hotel. The guest speaker will be Darrel Regier, M.D., executive director of the American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education and director of APA’s Division of Research. Regier will speak on the epidemiology and economics of mental illness coverage and the costs and benefits of parity.
That evening the Lifers will hold their annual reception in the Armstrong Ballroom, also at the Sheraton. During the reception, the Harold E. Berson, M.D., Lifers Award will be presented to Hugo Van Dooren, M.D. There also will be a $100 prize drawing.
Tickets are required for admission to the reception.
