Applications Invited for IPS Travel Scholarship

The recipients of the 2001 APA/Janssen Resident IPS Travel Scholarship Program were, from bottom left, Shauna Reinblatt, Kevin Dev Kapila, Francisca MgBodile, and Laila Yasmin; middle row from left, Anoop Karippot, Jessica Roberts, Olga Tolscik, Paula Bank, and Arkady Bilenko; top row from left, Ricardo Restrepo and William Wood (all M.D.’s).
Funding for the APA/Janssen Resident IPS Travel Scholarship Program has been extended for this year’s Institute on Psychiatric Services. This program supports travel and related costs for residents to attend the institute, which will be held this year from October 9 to 13.
The travel program is coordinated by the APA Office of Graduate and Undergraduate Education and supported through an educational grant from Janssen Pharmaceutica.
The program is open to all psychiatry residents in an ACGME-approved training program. Participants, who must be APA members at the time of nomination, must be nominated by their training director or department chair. Nomination materials must include a completed nomination form; a statement of interest from the applicant detailing his/her experience, knowledge, and career path, not to exceed 400 words; a copy of the applicant’s curriculum vitae; and a letter of support from a residency director or department chair including the resident’s potential contribution to the field of community and public psychiatry.
The deadline for submissions is July 19. They should be sent to APA/Janssen Resident Travel Scholarship Program; Attn: Nancy Delanoche, Office of Graduate and Undergraduate Education, APA, 1400 K Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20005.
A nomination form can be downloaded from APA’s Web site at www.psych.org/resident/janssen.pdf. More information is available by e-mail from Nancy Delanoche at [email protected].
