Applications Invited For Research Award

The American Psychiatric Foundation invites submissions for the 2003 Alexander Gralnick, M.D., Award for Research in Schizophrenia.
Established by the Gralnick Foundation in conjunction with the American Psychiatric Foundation of the American Psychiatric Association, this award recognizes individuals who have done outstanding work in the area of schizophrenia research, which emphasizes early diagnosis and treatment and/or psychosocial aspects of the disease process. The awardee must have an established body of work in this area, but special emphasis will be placed on current research. This is an annual competition; resubmission of applications is permitted.
Applicants should submit the following: (1) a brief statement of no more than one page summarizing career accomplishments relevant to the award criteria, emphasizing its internal consistency and scientific implications, (2) a statement summarizing current research that is central to consideration for this award, (3) one manuscript that best illustrates current research contributions, which may be unpublished, in press, or published in 1998 or later, (4) an up-to-date curriculum vitae and up-to-date bibliography.
All entries must be submitted in four complete, collated sets and sent to Thomas H. McGlashan, M.D., Chair, Gralnick Award Selection Committee, American Psychiatric Foundation, 1400 K. Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20005. Application deadline for the 2003 award is November 15.
