Krauthammer Lecture

APA's 156th annual meeting was a magnificent event, where the quality of the scientific sessions concerted with the appropriate location: the wonderful city of San Francisco.
The excellence of the meeting was tempered by the poor choice of speaker for the William C. Menninger Memorial Lecture. Dr. Charles Krauthammer was appallingly inappropriate. An individual who extols "preemptive strikes" to deal with real or imagined aggression is a prophet of Armageddon whom we not need before the Day of Judgment.
