Muñoz Cited

Former APA president Rodrigo Muñoz, M.D., has been chosen as the recipient of the 2003 Jeanne Spurlock Lecture and Award of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).
The award will be presented at AACAP’s annual meeting, which is being held October 13 to 19 in Miami Beach, Fla.
Muñoz, who will present a lecture at the AACAP meeting in conjunction with the award, was recognized for his extensive involvement in with children’s issues, child and adolescent psychiatry, and cross-cultural mental health. Spurlock and Muñoz cowrote a book chapter on people in minority populations and mental health.
The award is named in honor of the former APA deputy medical director who, as head of APA’s Office of Minority and National Affairs, worked for many years to ensure that the unique mental health needs of children and minorities were addressed. ▪
