Object Lesson

I was impressed by the juxtaposition in the July 18 issue of the article on our strained workforce on page 10 and the article on the street outreach team in San Francisco on page 11. I think every district branch president and legislative committee should copy both articles and provide them to legislators and governors in each state. This might be the political equivalent of Dickens’ Ghost of Christmas Present (the page 11 story) and Ghost of Christmas Future (the page 10 story). Perhaps, like Ebenezer Scrooge, our leaders will wake up with a renewed commitment to provide the resources to care for citizens in need.
