A Gift From APA to Residents

Joseph Jeral, M.D., and Kavitha Rao, M.D., who recently graduated from their psychiatry residencies at George Washington University, discuss the complimentary copies they received of the Quick Reference to the American Psychiatric Association Practice Guidelines for the Treatment of Psychiatric Disorders. APA and American Psychiatric Publishing Inc. (APPI), provided the publication free to all graduates of U.S. psychiatry residency programs. In a letter to all graduating residents, APA President Michelle Riba, M.D., who urged this initiative, and APPI President Thomas Wise, M.D., explained that they sent the free copies of this key publication as a way to “recognize this important milestone” in the careers of the graduating residents and hoped the book would be part of ongoing education these new psychiatrists will pursue throughout their careers.
