Company to Match APA Members' Contributions

Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America Inc. will match contributions by APA members to the American Psychiatric Foundation's 2005 annual fund, dollar for dollar, the foundation announced last month.
The matching program represents a unique partnership between Takeda and the foundation. It is hoped that the program will encourage more APA members to contribute to the foundation, knowing that their dollars will go further through matching funds to support the foundation's important work.
“We are immensely grateful to Takeda for its generous support of the foundation,” said Altha J. Stewart, M.D., president of the foundation.“ Takeda clearly shares the foundation's vision of advancing public understanding that mental illnesses are real and can be effectively treated.”
“Awareness and education can make a tremendous difference in people's health and well-being.”
The American Psychiatric Foundation is a charitable and educational subsidiary of APA. Its mission is to advance the understanding that mental illnesses are real and can be effectively treated.
“Takeda believes in the mission of the American Psychiatric Foundation and is proud to support the foundation's matching gift program,” said Takeda Neuroscience Medical Director Louis Mini, M.D., an adult and geriatric psychiatrist and APA member. “The foundation is an outstanding organization. Awareness and education can make a tremendous difference in people's health and well-being.”
The foundation also announced its goal for the 2005 annual fund campaign.“ The foundation has set a goal of $1.2 million in contributions, a 20 percent increase from our 2004 goal,” said Stewart. “Takeda's matching-gift program offers a significant boost to our campaign and puts our ambitious goal within reach, for each member donation will go twice as far.”
Information on how to contribute to the foundation is posted online at<www.psychfoundation.org>. Contributions to the foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. ▪
