Web Site Explains Part D Changes

APA's Office of Healthcare Systems and Financing has announced that important updates have been made to the Medicare Part D Web site supported by APA and its partners at<www.mentalhealthpartd.org>. The information will help psychiatrists and their patients prepare for the start of Part D's second year on January 1, 2007.
Open enrollment for Part D ends on December 31. Updates on the Web site cover key changes to Part D as well as 2007 enrollment information affecting all beneficiaries, including dual-eligible beneficiaries (those eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid).
Here are just a few of the important points on which you'll find more information on the Web site:
Patient drug approvals/favorable coverage decisions from the appeals process will probably expire at the end of the current plan year.
CMS made important changes in the transition guidance for 2007 to ensure that patients continue receiving the medications they are already taking.
You are advised to check the Web site frequently since updates will be posted as more information becomes available. Also, members who are having problems with exceptions and appeals are asked to inform APA by sending an e-mail message to<[email protected]> or calling (866) 882-6227. Other Part D questions or comments are welcomed as well.
