Web Feature Lets Members Access Action Papers, Contact Assembly Rep

Michael Blumenfield, M.D., speaker-elect of the APA Assembly, has announced the creation of a new feature on APA's Web site at<www.psych.org> that will enable APA members to review action papers scheduled for action by the Assembly and express their opinion to their Assembly representative via e-mail. The feature, which involves the creation of links in the“ Members Corner” section under “Assembly, “goes live on Friday, May 5, two weeks prior to the meeting of the Assembly at APA's 2006 annual meeting in Toronto.
One link will take APA members to the action papers scheduled for review by the Assembly at its May meeting. Another link will enable members to e-mail their Assembly representative with comments about the action papers or other matters. Action papers undergo review by a reference committee before being voted on by the Assembly.
Blumenfield noted that the new links will give APA members a direct channel of communication to their Assembly representative concerning Assembly business. He expressed the hope that this will lead to increased member participation in the business and direction of APA, which represents their interest and concerns.
