Applications Invited for Shire Fellowship

Applications are being invited for the 2008-09 APA/Shire Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program. Fellowships will be awarded to five residents to travel to the 2008 and 2009 APA annual meetings and to work with mentors on issues in child and adolescent psychiatry.
This program is designed to promote interest in working with children and adolescents. Fellows will learn about new clinical research and the most successful public programs for the treatment of seriously mentally ill children and adolescents. They also will have opportunities to meet and network with leaders in child and adolescent psychiatry.
The APA/Shire Child and Adolescent Fellowship is open to PGY-1 through PGY-3 residents. Applicants must be APA members and have approval from their training director or department chair.
The deadline for applications is December 17. They must include a completed application form; a statement of interest from the applicant that gives a detailed outline of his or her experience, knowledge, and interest in child and adolescent psychiatry; a curriculum vitae; and a letter of support from a residency training director or department chair that describes the resident's potential contribution to the field.
