Nominations Invited for APA Awards

APA members are asked to help identify individuals who are deserving of recognition for their professional contributions and achievements with the following awards. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2009 awards.
John Fryer Award honors an individual whose work has contributed to the improvement of the mental health of sexual minority communities.
Solomon Carter Fuller Award recognizes a black citizen who has pioneered in an area that has significantly benefited the quality of life for black people.
Kun-Po Soo Award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions toward understanding the impact and import of Asian cultural heritage in areas relevant to psychiatry.
George Tarjan Award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the enhancement of the integration of international medical graduates (IMGs) into American psychiatry.
Oskar Pfister Award honors an outstanding contributor in the field of psychiatry and religion.
Nominations should be in the form of a letter indicating specific reasons for the recommendation and accompanied by a biographical sketch of the candidate. The deadline for nominations is August 1.
Submission of materials by e-mail is preferred. They should be sent to Alison Bondurant at [email protected]. They can also be mailed to Bondurant in the APA Office of Minority and National Affairs, 1000 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 1825, MS#1 2038, Arlington, Va. 22209-3901.
