APA Alliance Plans Busy Annual Meeting Schedule

Do you want to join or learn more about the APA Alliance (APAA), an APA-affiliated organization whose members perform a variety of activities on behalf of mentally ill individuals and the profession of psychiatry? Just drop by the APAA booth at APA's 2008 annual meeting in Washington, D.C., and sign up (see Alliance Schedules Opportunities for Learning and Fun). The booth will be open Saturday through Tuesday, May 3 to 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be located in the East Lobby, Street Level, of the Washington Convention Center.
APAA membership is open to the following individuals:
Spouses of APA members who are in good standing
Spouses of deceased APA members who were in good standing at the time of death
Individuals who are supportive of the stated mission of the APAA and are sponsored by a member in good standing of APA or APAA
Spouses of medical students and residents in training (dues waived for both)
Below is the schedule of APAA activities during the annual meeting.

Official Opening Session of Annual Meeting and Presidential Address

Workshop: "Risk Factors Are Not Predictive Factors Due to Protective Factors Applied to the New Orleans School Recovery Distract"

Bus departs from the Renaissance Hotel at 8:30 a.m.

APAA Annual Luncheon and Lecture

Keynote speaker Marie Wood of the Yellow Ribbon Fund will present "Mental Health Issues With Returning Veterans and Their Families." (The Yellow Ribbon Fund is a volunteer organization that provides a wide range of assistance to military soldiers who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan and/or their families.)
