During their three-day meeting in San Francisco last month, APA Assembly representatives decided who will lead the group for the next year. They chose Maryland psychiatrist Bruce Hershfield, M.D., to be the next speaker-elect and Ann Marie Sullivan, M.D., of New York to succeed Hershfield as Assembly recorder. Hershfield ran unopposed, and Sullivan defeated Priscilla Ray, M.D., of Texas.
Gary Weinstein, M.D., who had been the speaker-elect, moved up to the speaker's post at the conclusion of the meeting, replacing the outgoing speaker, Ron Burd, M.D. Assembly leaders serve one-year terms. ▪
