Full- and Half-Day Immersion Courses—Most Are Free!

The Scientific Program Committee of APA's Institute on Psychiatric Services is introducing a new format this year—full- and half-day Immersion Courses. According to Scientific Program Chair Stephen Goldfinger, M.D., these courses are being added in response to requests from attendees for more intensive learning opportunities in areas relevant to improving their patient-care knowledge and skills.
Each course provides a rare opportunity to spend an extended period with nationally recognized experts and become immersed in new and practical areas of cutting-edge clinical approaches to patient care. Attendees may earn certificates of participation/certification for most of these courses. When offered at other conferences, many of these courses have fees equivalent to those for the entire institute.
The Immersion Courses will be taking place throughout the meeting. Seating capacity is limited to the size of the room, and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Preregistration is required for course 4, and only course 7 has a registration fee because it includes meals. Further details about these courses are posted at<www.psych.org/IPS> under “Scientific Program.”
