MH Problems Prevalent in Suicide

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated the suicide rate in the United States at 11.6 per 100,000 in 2007 (18.4 and 5.0 per 100,000 in male and female populations, respectively). Mental health problems were the most common known circumstance associated with suicide deaths. Firearm was the most common method used (50.7 percent overall).
