Allied Groups to Meet at Annual Meeting

• The Hellenic American Psychiatric Association (HAPA) will hold its 11th annual meeting in conjunction with APA's 2010 annual meeting in New Orleans.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
There will be two featured speakers: Petros Levounis, M.D., M.A., and Ioannis Zervas, M.D. Levounis will speak on “Leadership, Motivation, and Change: Lessons From Addiction Medicine.” Zervas will speak on “Women's Mental Health at the Athens University: A Person-Centered Approach.” There will also be a brief business meeting.
Starting this year, the meeting will be followed by a prearranged Dutch-treat dinner to be held at a local restaurant beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Those interested in attending the meeting and/or dinner must preregister by sending an e-mail to [email protected] and submit their HAPA dues of $50. (This fee has not increased since HAPA's founding in 1999.)

• The American College of Psychoanalysts will hold its 41st annual meeting on Saturday, May 22, in conjunction with APA's annual meeting in New Orleans.
The plenary sessions will be led by Joy Osofsky, Ph.D., a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, and Robert Michels, M.D., the University Professor of Medicine and of Psychiatry at the Weill Cornell Medical College and a training and supervising psychoanalyst at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.
Four colloquia have been scheduled: “Psychoanalysis and Psychiatry: Past, Present, and Future,” “Psychoanalysis in China: The Real Great Leap Forward,” “Issues in Infant Mental Health,” and “The Analysis of a Jewish Woman by a Turkish Woman Analyst: The Holocaust in the Unconscious in Relation to Transference-Countertransference Issues.”
The meeting will be held at the Iberville Suites at 910 Iberville Street.
