A COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER SURVIVES A FINANCIAL CRISIS

Abstract

A newly constructed and almost fully staffed community mental health center was faced with a financial crisis when anticipated federal staffing funds were not available. The program weathered the crisis through the support of its parent organization and by enlarging the roles of nursing personnel, increasing its indirect services of consultation and education, and putting consultative arrangements on a reimbursable contract basis wherever possible.
