Organization: American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP)

Brief Description: The AACAP Pilot Research Award, supported by Industry Supporters, offers $15,000 for general psychiatry residents who have an interest in beginning a career in child and adolescent mental health research. By providing up to two awards to general psychiatry residents for pilot research programs, young investigators are supported at a critical stage, encouraging future careers in child and adolescent psychiatry research. Recipients have the opportunity to submit a poster presentation on their research for AACAP's 68th Annual Meeting in Atlanta, October 25–30, 2021. The award also includes the cost of attending the AACAP Annual Meeting for 5 days.

Eligibility: Applicants must be a general psychiatry resident, not have any previous significant individual research finding in child and adolescent mental health, and be members of AACAP or have a membership application pending. Candidates must agree to submit a poster presentation at the annual meeting.

Brief Description: The AACAP Pilot Research Award for Learning Disabilities for Junior Faculty and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows, supported by AACAP's Elaine Schlosser Lewis Fund, offers $15,000 for child and adolescent psychiatry fellows and junior faculty who have an interest in beginning a career in child and adolescent mental health research. By providing up to two awards to a child and adolescent psychiatry junior faculty member or fellow for pilot research on learning disabilities, young investigators are supported at a critical stage, encouraging a future career in child and adolescent psychiatry research. The recipient has the opportunity to submit a poster presentation on his or her research for AACAP's 68th Annual Meeting in Atlanta, October 25–30, 2021.

Eligibility: Candidates must be board eligible or certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, or enrolled in a child and adolescent psychiatry residency or fellowship program, or have a faculty appointment in an accredited medical school, or be in a fully accredited child and adolescent psychiatry clinical research or training program. Candidates may not have more than 2 years of experience following graduation from residency or fellowship training and must not have any previous significant individual research funding in the field. All candidates must be AACAP members or have a membership application pending and agree to submit a poster presentation on his or her research at the annual meeting.

Candidates must either be AACAP members or have a membership application and agree to submit a poster presentation at the annual meeting.

Organization: National Institute of Mental Health

Brief Description: The NIMH ORAP was introduced to the psychiatry residency training community over 30 years ago to recognize residents with outstanding research and academic potential. ORAP recipients receive a framed certificate, an invitation to visit the NIH campus for a 2-day award program and leadership opportunity, and an opportunity to present a poster about their research.

Eligibility: Program directors may nominate one PGY-2 resident on the basis of research training and achievement, personal characteristics, and clinical acumen.

Organization: ACNP

Brief Description: ACNP annually selects distinguished young scientists in the field of neuropsychopharmacology to be part of our travel award program. These travel awards offer an opportunity to attend an outstanding scientific program in clinical and basic research on brain-behavior-drug interactions, become aware of the most recent, and often unpublished, advances in psychopharmacology, and meet and interact with internationally distinguished researchers and scientists.

Eligibility: Medical students and psychiatry residents are eligible. Supporting letters must be written by ACNP members. Applicants can be no more than 5 years posttraining.

Organization: ACLP

Brief Description: Designed to encourage psychosomatic fellows, residents, and medical students to join ACLP and attend the annual meeting. A limited number of monetary awards are given to offset the cost of attending the annual meeting. (ACLP Council determines the dollar amount and number of awards.)

Eligibility: Applicants must be a PGY-3 psychiatry resident or psychosomatic fellow.
