Abstract

Task-focused psychotherapy relies on Piaget’s formulations of children’s learning through action. Therapeutic tasks are designed to embody the child’s conflict and to create a new opportunity for resolution. Children’s conflicts are often maintained by interactions within the family. The task-focused model enlists parents as allies and clarifies the problem’s relationship to a central familial issue.
