Interpersonal Aspects of the Supervision of Individual Psychotherapy

Abstract

Despite the shift from psychotherapeutic to biological focus in psychiatric residency training, residents in some programs seek out psychotherapy supervision as a means of achieving psychotherapeutic competence. Experience in a general hospital, part of a university network, is described, focusing upon positive and negative interpersonal aspects for resident, supervisor, and patient.
