Treatment of Patients in the Borderline Spectrum: An Overview

Abstract

The therapeutic approach to treatment of borderline patients, as conceived diagnostically in the framework of the borderline spectrum, is described in general terms. The therapeutic difficulties are discussed in reference to the therapeutic alliance, the transference, and the countertransference. The particular nature and the characteristic quality of the difficulties encountered in each of these sectors are described and briefly discussed.
