The Synergy of Group and Individual Psychotherapy Training

Abstract

Traditionally in the training of mental health professionals, individual dynamic psychotherapy skills have had a primary place in the teaching of psychotherapy, with group or family therapy skills added at a later stage. This paper will explore how experience in dynamic group psychotherapy may actually facilitate the development of individual psychotherapy skills.
