Techniques to Accelerate Dynamic Psychotherapy

Abstract

In Accelerated Experiential/Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), experiencing previously unbearable affects within an emotionally engaged therapeutic relationship accelerates and deepens therapeutic change. Informed by a model of affect-centered relational dynamics, AEDP relational, restructuring, and experiential/affective techniques strive to counteract defenses, strengthen the therapeutic bond, and deepen core affective experiences.
