The VA's First Comprehensive Homeless Center: A Catalyst for Public and Private Partnerships

Abstract

In 1991 the comprehensive homeless center won the community council of Greater Dallas' annual award for program excellence. Dallas Mayor Annette Strauss, who nominated the center for the award, highlightedits rolein catalyzing all sectors—public, private, and voluntary—to joint action on behalf of homeless veterans. The homeless center expects that with continued community involvement, lasting solutions to the problems of the homeless veteran will be found.
