Issues Unique to Psychotherapy with Adolescent Girls

Abstract

Recent research concerning the biological, social, psychological, and cultural development of adolescent girls is providing new information that is applicable to psychotherapy. The clinical and theoretical advances are presented and their application to psychotherapy is discussed with case illustrations. An integrated model for working with adolescent girls, including a description of various psychotherapeutic techniques, is also presented.
