Psychotherapeutic Issues with Family Members of Persons with Physical Disabilities

Abstract

Individual psychotherapy for family members of persons with physical disabilities due to associated distress is discussed. Characteristics of the psychological difficulties that need to be addressed are described within the context of interpersonal and intrapsychic considerations and family systems theory. Specific relationships and factors to consider when treating this population are presented.
