Impasses in the Supervisory Process: A Resident’s Perspective

Supervisory impasses are described within a survey, written from the vantage point of residents in psychiatry. These impasses occurred most frequently between supervisors and residents. We suggest an enhanced focus on the recognition and repair of impasses. Recommendations are offered concerning continuing education devoted to the supervisory alliance.
