Psychiatric evaluations can become central in the resolution of workplace conflict or litigation involving disability claims, need for accommodations, causation, damages, and other issues. Mental and emotional injuries constitute the bulk of exposure in much federal and civil employment litigation (McDonald and Kulick 2001). Psychiatrists can best assist attorneys, employers, insurers, or finders of fact by providing opinions regarding relevant psychiatric issues based on careful evaluation of the totality of circumstances in each case.
