Multiple Options for Exploring Kauai

There are many ways to experience the Garden Isle—on horseback, on foot, aboard a sailboat, or soaring above it in a helicopter. Fortunately, there is no shortage of companies willing to show tourists the most beautiful spots on the island. The following are just a few:
Jack Harter Helicopters is a local company that has been offering helicopter tours of the island for decades. Helicopters are equipped with a two-way intercom system so the pilot can communicate with passengers and offer a personalized tour. Reservations can be made online at <www.helicopters-kauai.com/reservations.html> or by calling (888) 245-2001.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters also offers a number of helicopter tours, which can be reserved online at <www.bluehawaiian.com/kauai/tours> or by calling (800) 745-2583.
CJM Country Stables is a well-established local company based on the south shore of Kauai and offers horseback rides through the Mahalepu area in Koloa. The rides are of differing lengths and start at about $100. Reservations are available by calling (808) 742-6096, and more information is posted at <www.cjmstables.com/index.html>.
Bring your hiking shoes when you take a guided tour with Tom Barefoot's Tours, which take tourists through such scenic locales as Waimea Canyon, Wailua River Valley, and parts of the Na Pali coastline, for example. Hiking tours range from $75 to $220. Information is posted and reservations can be made at <www.tombarefoot.com>.
Capt. Andy's Kauai Sailing Adventures offers sailing tours and snorkeling trips just off the Na Pali coastline on 55-foot catamarans. Depending on the length of the outing, prices range from $60 to $150. More information is posted and reservations can be made at <www.napali.com/kauai_sailing/>.
