Statistics from a variety of data sources on substance abuse, mental illness, and comorbid disorders in the U.S. are available in this compendium from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The source book contains 217 two-page fact sheets with graphics on the nature and extent of the disorders, their social costs and consequences, and prevention and treatment programs. Also included are descriptions of the primary studies and surveys used for the fact sheets, a glossary, and a detailed index. A hard copy of the source book is available free from SAMHSA's National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information, phone 800-729-6686. Graphics and text are retrievable from SAMHSA's Web site at www.samhsa.gov.
