Image Therapy

Publication: American Journal of Psychiatry

Abstract

Image therapy aims to reverse threatening and frightening mental images so that the patient can picture objects as manageable. The author presents various methods of dealing directly with imagination, especially as it relates to images of the patient's mother and father. Conflicts between objective reality and patient's images can be resolved by bringing objects in line with good images.
