SCRIBE-A Method for Producing Automated Narrative Psychiatric Case Histories

Publication: American Journal of Psychiatry

Abstract

The computer methods described in the foregoing paragraphs are intended only as brief outline of the programming techniques used by SCRIBE to handle the most common problems in punctuation and editing of the GPPQ narrative output. There are other techniques in the program too technical to describe here; however, complete documentation is available from the authors on request.
It is difficult to estimate the considerable savings in man-hours of work and the research potential from such consistent information. Certainly the convenience of immediately available data through the system justifies its existence.
