Abstract

In conclusion, subconvulsive electric shock treatment by faradic current may be recommended for those patients who are disturbed, destructive, combative or otherwise difficult to manage. It has been used only in chronic cases but I believe if used early in the course of the disease, it will aid in preventing development of these bad habits. The beneficial effects appear to be on a reality basis and due to the associated discomfort. It must not be used as punishment and careful watch against employment of it as such is to be guarded against. It aids in eliminating restraint, reducing destruction and preventing accidents.
