Proposals due: October 31, 2024. Submissions due: December 31, 2024

We invite submissions for a special issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry Residents’ Journal focused on substance use disorders. This special issue aims to explore the many facets of substance use disorders, including innovative treatment modalities, harm reduction strategies, integration of care, policy implications, and the impact of social determinants on substance use and recovery.
We welcome manuscripts that address
advances in pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatments
harm reduction approaches and their efficacy
policy changes and their impact on treatment accessibility and outcomes
the role of social determinants, such as housing, employment, and social support in recovery
the intersection of substance use disorders with mental health conditions
stigma reduction and its effects on treatment engagement and outcomes
special populations, including adolescents, pregnant women, and individuals with co-occurring disorders
Other categories and article ideas within the scope of this theme will be considered. We encourage submissions that provide novel insights, highlight emerging research, and offer practical implications for clinical practice and policy. For this special issue, we aim to compile a comprehensive set of resources that addresses the complexities of substance use disorders and provides a platform for sharing evidence-based practices and innovative approaches to treatment and recovery.

All manuscripts must adhere to the word limits and format requirements for the type of article being submitted.
