A s readers might have begun to surmise, “mentalizing” reflects a variety of mental processes, and we begin this chapter by articulating its many facets. Then we contrast mentalizing with several related terms, in part to make the case that there is no other concept for mentalizing but mentalizing. Finally, because emotion is so central to mentalizing, we conclude the chapter with a discussion of mentalizing emotion.
