In this chapter, we provide a brief overview of the major issues in psychiatric or psychological consultation to pediatrics. Many of the issues addressed in pediatrics are similar to those seen with adults. However, because the relative importance of development and of the family is sufficiently different in pediatrics, these issues should be considered at the start of any evaluation, and they infuse every intervention and recommendation.
