Serenity Prayer Revisited

Serenity Prayer Revisited

I am writing in response to the article “Ethical and Intrapsychic Issues in Ending a Practice” in the July 21 issue by Dr. Norman Clemens.
Now, as this one septuagenarian slowly sashays into the sunset, I offer a revised Serenity Prayer:
To the baby boomers: The serenity to accept the use of electronic health records.
To the Generation X’rs: The courage to fight for our profession and our patients.
To the Generation Y’rs: While practicing in our noble profession, the wisdom to understand that every “provider encounter” is a deeply meaningful interaction with a unique human being.
AARON BILLOWITZ, M.D. (Shaker Heights, Ohio) ■
